Easy Fish Recipes – Cooking Fish in Microwave

Before starting our discussion, it must be noted that the microwave oven is present in various power ranges. It’s hard to cover them all. We will try to provide a variety of cooking times for different power levels, but at least it will identify the power level used. You might need to adjust the power settings on your microwave.

Melt the fish in the microwave

For most microwaves, defrost settings are quite consistent. Therefore the time listed here will be close to whatever microwave you have. Place the fish in a safe microwave container. In general, fish need 4-6 minutes per pound in the defrost cycle to be disbursed. Halfway through the defros cycle, turn it over and reset the fish. Fish must be cold, maybe even a little cold in the end. If necessary, let the fish melt up to 20 minutes at room temperature. Don’t let at room temperature longer.

Cooking fish in the microwave

Just like when you cook fish in hot oil, in the oven, or on the grill, the fish must be cooked at high temperatures for a relatively short period. Fish will continue to cook internally for a long time after the microwave is complete. The cooking period is listed for a 700 watt microwave. It is assumed that the fish had previously been disbursed.

All fish = 6-8 minutes per pound
Individual fillets = 4-5 minutes per pound
Steak = 4-5 minutes per pound
Fish will be done when the meat is scaly. You can cook fish longer if necessary, but don’t overcook.
